I boiled mine for about 30 minutes. Doesnt take long for the oxidation layer to form.
 
Same here, worked like a charm. Try to fit as much as you can safely boil in the kettle to get the oxidation layer as high up on the inside of the pot as you can.
 
Thanks...Got 7 gal in a 7 1/2 gal pot boiling...on my $45 combo...
I just looked and there is a nice dark coating...:mug:
 
my bad no the qt, sorry was a little tipsy while typing.

and i ferment in a 6.7 gal bucket, 6gal carboy, and 6 gal BB
