does anyone know if the tubing on the inside of steel braids meant for washing machines is possibly food safe?

I doubt it is. Not many people cook in or eat from their washing machines. :D

What were you planning to do with it?

well I cut a bunch of holes in it then put it back in the braid to keep the braid from collapsing in my MLT but the thought just crossed my mind that it probably isnt food safe and I just wasted two hours of my life.
.

Get rid of the inner hose. If you feel inclined to make an inner support structure, coil some stainless wire in to a spring or order a stainless spring from mcmaster.
