I'm going do a partial mash wheat ale. I'm going to keep the brew 1/2 malt 1/2 wheat. Should I use extract or grain for the wheat portion or does it matter?

I've not done anything with wheat except extract, so I can't really tell you which is best.

I've used wheat extract before, and while it produces a good wheat beer you should note that it's not 100% wheat malt. I've heard different numbers but it's somewhere between 60/40 and 80/20 wheat/pils. Personally I would just use wheat DME for about half the fermentables, and a 50/50 mix of malt for the mash, but I haven't done it so take that with a grain of salt.

For extract I would use all wheat malt because, as KT points out, it it's generally already a mixture of barley and wheat malt.

For AG I use either malted or just flaked wheat.
