Can you control a burner with PID? I would think the cycling would not work well, maybe I am wrong... I know Auber makes some PIDs with ON/OFF mode for use with burners and motors etc.

I would be interested if anyone has used true PID control for a burner.

You just have to make sure the band isn't too narrow or else it will end up short cycling. Since the temperature is a slow changing variable, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Like Sawdustguy is saying it works like a charm.

My application is different, all the PID's are redundant control devices in case my brewing brain (PLC) dies.
The only function the PID has in Remote is to retransmit the temperature to the PLC.

I use a very, very long cycle time.

Hello,

I need help for my Y8610U Intermitent pilot retrofit kit.
This kit contains :

- S8610U Intermitent pilot module
- VR8304M Dual valve combination gas control
- 392431 Igniter-sensor
- 394800-30 Ignition cable
- 393691 Natural gas to LP conversion kit

I have also : Q314A6094 Pilot Burner for natural or LP gas

I use the convertion kit for using it with LP gas.

The pilot module is control by my Omron CPM1A-30CDR PLC.

I have wired it like this :
attachment.php

When the pilot module is power, there is no gas in the pilot burner and no spark in the igniter senser.

First I tryed to solved the first problem (no gas in the pilot burner)

I mesured the voltage between "24V GND" and "TH-W", I have 24V. I also mesured between "PV" and "MV-PV", I have just 0.7V.

the LED is blinking for 4 seconds and stop blinking for 1 second.

I think it is not normal and I think the pilot valve is not open when the pilot module is power.

I do not understand what happen.

Anybody can help me ?

Thank you

Benoit

PS : Sorry for my bad english, I am French.
