hey everybody second batch and was wondering
just wanted to know if i could use mason jars instead of beer bottles
would appreciate you input

Mason jars seal with a vacuum, not under pressure. Besides that, they ain't designed to hold pressure. Save the jars for high-class drinkin' vessels ;)

No... primary reason being mason jars work (create seal) with negative pressure, I believe. Beer that is primed to create carbonation creates positive pressure.

Further, even if it did hold positive pressure, the glass probably couldn't withstand the pressure from the carbonation, as it is not designed for carbonated beverages. E.g the glass isn't thick enough or whatnot and would burst?

EDIT: bird beat me to it...

they do make great containers for storing reusable yeast though, check out the "yeast washing illustrated" sticky.

I remember asking the same question when I my first batch was in the primary, and I remember receiving the same answers (but from different folks) :)
