Hey all,

I am going to make my first attempt at a stout this week and I wanted some input.

It is based off of mean old Tom by Maine brewing.

O.G. – 1.067

Malt – American 2-Row, Chocolate, Roasted Barley, Midnight Wheat, Caramel 40L, Flaked Oats

Hops – US Magnum, Centennial

I came up with: 5 gallon batch OG: 1.067 70% eff

10.5 lb 2 row
.75 Chocolate
.75 roasted barley
.5 midnight wheat
.5 C40
.75 Flaked Oats

60 min - .75oz magnum
10 - 1oz centennial
5 - 1oz centennial

IBU: 50ish

Does this malt bill look ok? Or do you think I could use more specialty malts?

Thanks!

You should be ok, your in the right range maintaining at least 75% base malt for conversion when dealing with all that dark malt. Looks like a tasty brew. It looks like its going to have a strong citrus hop flavor almost at an IPA level. is that what your looking for?
