I have all my videos on a network shared drive and I'm trying to play then on my Wifi connected laptop. Of course, Windows Media player thinks it's a local drive and doesn't cache/buffer the file like it would on an online file. Does anyone know how I can force it to get rid of the stutter?

use vlc media player.

if it doesn't stream like you're wanting to, I know you can set up the host computer to "broadcast" and tell the computer you're viewing on to look for the stream.

On my HTPC I use UNC naming paths but I don't know if that will work in your instance. Video is also better if the drive is set to 64K blocks.
