I wanna put a spigot on my kettle. I got the step bit and oil a couple days and all I've read about drilling steel says that if it heats up too much it gets harder to drill. So, what I was wondering was is if it will be more difficult or impossible to drill now that I've used it?

Nah, you will be able to drill it OK. Just keep the bit well lubed and cooled with oil and start with a small pilot hole and work up. The key to effective drilling is to slow down the drill. If you have a variable speed drill set it to the lowest speed and take your time. If you overspeed the bit, you will work harden the steel and make it a PITA to finish the hole. 99% of holes drilled are done too fast and the results rarely turn out as expected. So slow down, take your time, and lube liberally. then you will be just fine.
