SWMBO took the kids to the in laws and I didn't have to go.

Fed Ex guy came today with this:

So I immediately started measuring out some hops for my Anchor Steam.

Mixed up 23 pounds of great smelling grains.

Poured myself a cold Aberdeen Session

And of course, logged on to see what's a happennin round the world of homebrewers:

Yep, if there's a better way to spend a Friday night (without grounds for divorce), I sure don't know what it is....

Great, now that you have impressed us you can get back to cleaning the house and doing the laundry before SWMBO gets home, right?:D :cross: :drunk:

Yeah...well.

SWMBO came home, saw my camera upstairs next to the laptop and decided to catch the moron in action. Just threw in the third NB addition and watching my Cards take a beating from the cubbies.

I've moved from my session ale to my Maltese...Nice citrus bite with those salty pretzels.

Sweet flying monkey poo!

That's a nice order. I'm guilty off the same thing... when my order comes in, I just have to brew. SWMBO now expects it, thankfully.

Nice Beer Pron Muncher, as always! You are looking very comfy in that brewbasement.

I Gotta get the brew hut built.

Aren' t you missing leghair on the left side now. You are right on top of that burner. I guess it is cheaper than waxing.:D

Are you using a propane burner in your basement? Don't those generate a ton of carbon monoxide?

Excellent beer pron, BTW...

So how do you generate your brewsheet and chart?
That's just an excel spreadsheet I pu together to keep track of my recipes. The hops chart is just a jpg of a hops/gravity ratio chart I found on line have and then I place my "target" on top.

This way when I need to modify the recipe for a higher or lower ABV, I can maintain the hops/grain ratio.

Here's the original chart.

I love BeerSmith, but this sure helps me with keeping track of my brews and making manual notes.

I use BeerSmith and use it to make sure my ABV and IBU are in the range for the style.

The charts good. I thought you had a secret package that generated the dot for you.

BM, How long will all those ingredients last you? And how much will it make?
I used up that bucket of grain (23#) on friday night, along with half that dark crystal (back...on the right).

The 50# bag (lowerf left) will give me three more 10-gallon batches. Usually, two lighter ABV's (14# base plus 2-3# specialty) and one medium ABV (21# base plus 4-5# specialty). The hops should last through another two grain orders like you see there.

Of course, the SWMBO tried an Octoberfest last night and she likes...so I have to go local to get a bag of the only thing I didn't order....some Vienna. (Maybe some aromatic while I'm at it)

Im interested in this question as well. I am looking into an electric burner I guess, but I also burn propane in the basement.
How are you venting?

Thanks,
Chris

I keep one box fan exhausting out my basement window, and another at the door blowing in.

There's a nice steady "whish" of air constantly moving from one side of the shop to the other. Take a look:
