I'm trying to make a recipe from the book Microbrewed Adventures and it's calling for German Black Caraffe malt and some English Black malt. I cannot find these at the online shop I normally shop with. What would be a good substitute for these or where online can I find them? Are these malts known by another name possibly? Neither of them are Black Patent malt are they?

Ziggy, try looking at northernbrewer.com, they have Simpsons Black Malt (UK) and all 3 varieties of Weyermann Carafa. Both morebeer.com and willamsbrewing.com have black patent malt and Carafa 2.

Thank you Cobster. I did not realize that Carafa was the same as Caraffe. Silly me :)
