Im looking at shanks for my kegerator and im having trouble deciding on which to buy. The lengths looks to me to be sort of arbitrary (could be wrong) but what about the bore sizes (3/16" and 1/4")????

Bore size doesn't matter much.
Shanks are almost all 7/8" in diameter and require a 1" hole.
Always buy shanks that are 1-1.5" longer than the thickness of the kegger's wall. More doesn't matter, less is a FAIL.

I prefer shanks with pre-attached nipples. Some people like to have the option of changing the nipple size.
