Here is my thinking on a recipe that I could go with that is similar to Orfy's recipe, but slightly different.

Brown Beer

10 gal

15lbs Pale Malt
1lbs Crystal 40L
1lbs Crystal 60L
1 lbs Chocolate Malt
Handful of Black Roasted unground

Willamette to bitter to around 20IBU with a 60min

I am going with the 40L so that I get that flavor out of it and not just 60L. The handful of Black Roasted is for color and nothing more. The Willamette because I have a lb of the stuff.

Thoughts?

I use Willamette in my brown ale, and it compliments it nicely, being a Fuggle cultivar. What temp do you plan on mashing at? I've found that my brown ale tastes best when mashed at 156-158F. The sweetness seems to really bring out the chocolate. With 1# of choco, the high mash temp should really balance it out.

Definately thinking of doing a 156 or so mash temp. I went to 161 and that beer was really nice. I think that the gravity is right on too, I like that amount.
