I know, I know- there is no such thing! :D

But I was looking at the Northern Brewer catalogue (which is awesome) and saw that. I don't know what's actually in it, but that gave me such ideas!

We have company coming June 16 for a long weekend. Two drink beer, but tend to lean toward New Glarus Spotted Cow and Leine's Honeyweizen. I was thinking about brewing either my cream ale (which was loved the last time they visited) or a kolsch. But when I saw that Irish blonde idea, I went AHA! Something quaffable and easy drinking but totally different than my usual cream ale/kolsch/fizzy yelloe beer recipes.

I was thinking about the things I love about some beers- creamy mouthfeel, a hint of British hops, some fruitiness but not too much, and some sweet malt but not too much. A dry finish, since it will be summer.

I came up with this (6 gallon batch):

5 lbs Maris Otter (Crisp) (4.0 SRM) Grain 1 41.7 %
5 lbs Pale Malt (2 Row) US (Rahr) (2.0 SRM) Grain 2 41.7 %
1 lbs Oats, Golden Naked (Simpsons) (10.0 SRM) Grain 3 8.3 %
8.0 oz Barley, Flaked (1.7 SRM) Grain 4 4.2 %
8.0 oz Wheat, Flaked (1.6 SRM) Grain 5 4.2 %
0.75 oz Willamette [5.60 %] - Boil 60.0 min Hop 6 13.8 IBUs
0.75 oz Willamette [5.60 %] - Boil 15.0 min Hop 7 6.8 IBUs
1.0 pkg British Ale II (Wyeast Labs #1335) [124.21 ml] Yeast 8 -

OG 1.051
FG 1.010ish
SRM 5.5

What do you think? Too nutty with the golden naked oats? Quaffable? Am I crazy to think this sounds good?

I cant say that i know anything about how it will turn out but i must say it looks delicious!!!! I cant wait to hear how it turns out.

Sorry to bring an old thread back from the dead, but did you ever brew this? If so, what would you change, or how did it turn out?
