I'm working on a recipe for a Milk Stout. I am considering adding some Oatmeal for enhanced mouth-feel. Thoughts?

I'm considering adding 12 oz of toasted Oatmeal to the following recipe. Thoughts? Concerns?

7 lb Pale Malt
1 lb Dark Caramel Malt (60)
11 oz Chocolate Malt
11 oz Roasted Barley (300)
3 oz Black Barley (500)
1 lb Lactose
Mash at 156
Nottingham
1.3 ounces Willamette Hops @ 60 min
OG 1.060
FG 1.021
ABV 5.11%
IBU 22
SRM 50

I brewed this 3 weeks back and it's ready to bottle. I added 10 ounces of toasted oats. pre-carbonation, this tastes fantastic. Very smooth and full bodied.

Add it. That recipe is similar to the one I brewed 6 weeks ago and it had 13 oz of quick oats, ( also had 20% honey malt if you really want some breakfast beer) and it is silky smooth.

FWIW, almost every milk stout Ive made has had oats in it. The silky body works in tandem with the lactose addition. The head retention also seems to help

Just tried this after only a week in the bottle and it is delicious. Full bodied, sweet, smooth, and an espresso finish that stays with you for a long time. Getting great reviews on it form our beer CO-OP as well.
