Ok, I know this is a RDWHAHB moment and I will do just that but I still would like to know the implications of leaving kegged beer without purging the O2 for a long period of time.

I kegged my first beer today, a Weissbier, around 4:00 and had to go to work tonight and won't be able to leave until around 12:30.

Sitting here, I've realized that I forgot to purge the CO2 before I left. What type of affect, if any, will it have on taste to leave it like that for 8 hours?

Maybe a little but the CO2 should blanket the beer and the O2 will float on top. As soon as you get home purge it through the pressure relief valve slowly for about 5 seconds. Wait 10 mins and repeat purging. Then kick back put your feet up and RDWHAHB.
