I have used the search function and come up with some ideas, but....

Is there a better quality WATERPROOF/SUBMERSIBLE digital thermometer someone can specifically suggest? I am willing to spend a little more for something durable.

I have a Taylor kitchen model that has the probe on it. I REALLY like that feature as I can put the probe in my cooler (MLT) and close the lid while it takes the reading. I also like the built in timer Is there in industrial version of this thermometer?

Thanks

Alan

Wow, that is a great idea. I have ruined a thermometer by dropping the damned wire into the mash.

Also, key info from that thread:

Don't even try without the lube.

+1 to BioBeing's post. I did this and it works great. I also put the probe in the oven to dry it out. Fishing the tubing on the wire was a bit of a PITA but I used some KY and that seemed to work well.

Good Luck.
