I have some White Labs California Ale Yeast WLP001 that I washed and would like to use up. I really want to brew BierMuncher's Blue Balls Belgian Wit but the recipe calls for White Labs #400. Can I substitute the WLP001 for the 400 and get similar results?

Thanks

no different yeast yield similar but different results. it wont wreck your beer just make it taste slightly different.

It'd go from a belgian wit to an American Wheat... and an atypical Amwheat at that.
You can sub for wyeast 3944. But it's the same strain.
So basically you need the right yeast on this one.
