Is this left over krausen?

I took the lid off my fermenter to take a specific gravity testing of my first batch of beer and I saw this gunk floating on the top. I assume it isn't mold or anything I should be concerned with because I tasted the sample I drew from for the test and it tasted fine (though flat of course).

I scooped the gunk out with a sanitized straining scoop. Was that ok to do? Or in the future should I just leave it in there?

The gunk was paste like it in feel and it was all brown.

Looks normal to me. Could have just racked from underneath it, but as long as your strainer was well-sanitized, you probably didn't hurt anything.
