So I had some left over ingredients and decided to put a brew together. I'm not 100% what style category it fits in, if any at all. Here's what I did:

3# Marris Otter
.25# Chocolate
.25# Crystal 120
.5# Crystal 60
.25# Aromatic
.5# Crystal 20
.25# Caramunich
4.25# Amber LME (added after boil)

Mashed @ 155 for 60 mins.

1.5oz Fuggles @ 60 mins.
.5 oz Willamette @ 30 mins.
1 oz Fuggles @ 0 mins.

1 packet, Nottingham

I was originally thinking this would fit as an ESB. The OG and IBUs are within that style, but the color is a bit darker. Any thoughts on where this would fit? If not, that's cool, we'll see how it turns out. Thanks

Eric

Looks ESB-ish, if not a little light on the B. You might not find it fit in to any one style perfectly. Wait till it's drinkable then call it whatever you think fits.

When you don't know what a beer is, just use BJCP category 23 Specialty Beer.

At first blush, I'd call it a brown ale of some type. It's too dark for ESB (IMO), and the crystal-malt character is too sweet.

According to what I punched into ProMash, it's the right color for English Northern Brown, though it's too bitter. It's on the light side of American Brown Ale color, but the hops profile is right where I like it.

Mkbrew is right - Cat 23 is always useful. :D Hell, I'd not worry about what category/style unless I was competing with it. I'd just give it a rockin' name - like Eric's Humpmaster Supremo - and drink it.
