cheap carbon filter

Just wanted to share this idea I had for a inexpensive filter aiming
specifically to remove chlorine/chloramine. Cheap being the key word!

So after being annoyed with pool- beer or "this is the worst thing i
have ever tasted". I decided to rig something up, the housing for this
type of filter is expensive; well to me. So I decided to go without
the housing,

filter - cheep carbon filter at home depot it comes with in a 2 pack
the bottom piece is a 3/4 male plug the top is a 3/4 female hose
connector to 3/4 plug.
Although the plugs thread into the filter perfectly, I sealed it with
some silicone, -> probably Teflon tape would do too.

Believe it or not it actually works, keep in mind the slower the water
flow the lower the pressure the better it works, this might because
the filter is not the best quality . I connect the garden hose to it
place the filter with the hose into my HLT and turn on the water. The
filter is designed for a whole house filtration system so it should
last for a very long time

I used an aquarium chlorine tester and took some shots of before and
after. (less pink = less chlorine)

I was thinking something very similar. I want to be able to filter beer and wine with a sediment filter. I saw them locally very inexpensive. Along with this, I was thinking of getting a carbon filter to filter the water too. Instead of using the one we have on the kitchen sink for coffee and drinking water. I could just change out the filters and have another attachment with a hose end that I can hook up to the laundry room sink. That way I can have the best of both worlds. Filter my beer and wines, as well as filtering the water I use to brew them.
