How long should it take to cool down from unpluged to 40f?

Dose it take a long time for the freezer it self to cool down?

Too many variables to really answer. The type of fridge, how old it is, the ambient air etc. I would say you are probably looking at a couple of hours at least. However, if it is a new fridge sitting in 55 degree ambient, it probably wont take that long.

I'm assuming from the bump that it's not yet cooled from the ambient temp of 60 degrees to the set temp of 40 degrees?

If that's the case, and it's been nearly a full day, it's probably not working correctly.

I have been trying couple different things and it seems that it's done. The coldest it had gotten was 56f.

Ho ya.... This is the secound chest freezer that I have bought off of Craigslist and both are doing the samething.

Plug it straight into the wall and see what happens, but it doesn't sound too good.

I can adjust the noob to 55f and the freezer quits working.
