Put away a Mons Abbey Witte last night along with some Thai food. Very nice.

Far too dark for to stick with my original name of Kiwi Pale Ale. I dub thee... Kiwi Red Ale. The Motueka and the Nelson Sauvin pair together very well. I'm not getting as much of the white wine notes as I was hoping for from the Nelson Sauvin, but they're definitely there. I think the next time I make this there will be some Nelson Sauvin thrown in with the late additions and Motueka thrown in with the dry hops. This one had all Motueka late hops and all Nelson Sauvin dry hops.

P.S. Yeah, I'm drinking a beer at 9 AM, big whoop, wanna fight about it?

Looks great. I've been thinking about making a pale ale highlighting Nelson Sauvin hops.
Oh, and 9:00 too early to drink a beer? The way I see it, there's no better time than the present to enjoy a beer.

Just cracked my first out of a 4 pack of the Topper that I got tonight.. $24.... Def. worth it. I will be harvesting the yeast for my next ipa (or 3). A belma / Citra / Amarillo / simcoe combo. Pretty excited about it.

Sweet! I should be sourcing some Heady soon for a similar experiment. Harvest the Conan yeast and then come up with a solid clone. Figure it'll be easier to brew than to score Heady in my neck of the woods!

That's the one you were tellin' me about? Looks (and sounds) awesome!! And no worries, it's Saturday, beer and cartoons go great together!! :mug:

Killed my second cup of coffee While cleanin the micro brew FV once more & wiped it dry. Got out my grain bags & yeast from the fridge to warm a bit. Makin a PM pale ale with super alpha bittering, motueka & pacifica flavor/aroma hops. Copped a pound of 5 different NZ hops when midwest had'em on sale. Descriptions sounded tasty.

Yep, that's the one. If I know your penchant for hops at all, you're going to dig it. Also, I forgot to mention to you personally that I really enjoyed your Moon Hill pumpkin ale. Quality brew. :mug:

Good, I'm looking forward to trying it! Glad ya liked Moon Hill. I can't take all the credit, Onipar (member here) created the original recipe last year, we both brewed it and traded. Then came up with a few tweaks for this years'. I was pretty happy with how this years' turned out, it's a lot like New Holland's Ichabod, simply by chance. I'd never had Ichabod until a few weeks ago. :mug:

Nice. I might be asking you for the recipe so I can brew it next year. I've got my brew scheduled filled up until the end of January so pumpkin will be way out of season by then. I've never had New Holland anything. Is that a local in your area?

I put away a 6'er of Schlafly's APA while bottling a batch of Irish Red last night, good stuff. It's as hoppy as some IPA's I've had. :cross:

Forgot to post this before I finished drinking it, but it was damn tasty. Saving one for a vertical tasting in at least one year, but hopefully I have enough patience to accumulate three or four year's worth.

This week's lineup consisted of Heretic Shallow Grave, Heretic Evil Twin, Bruery Five Golden Rings, 2011 Deschutes Abyss, Deschutes Jubeale, Sierra Pale Ale, He'brew Hop Manna and of course Pliney...after looking at that, no wonder the waistlines been growing!

Here's the link to this years' recipe. I should probably update the thread since I've been drinking more of it.
New Holland's from MI, but they make very good beer. I like their Hatter IPAs a lot, their Dragon's Milk RIS is really good too. Check 'em out, if you're interested in any I'll send them to you.

Oh right! I'm dumb, I've totally had New Holland. I had the Dragon's Milk while I was down in Virginia. I had forgotten that New Holland brewed that. That was one of the best IRSs I've had to date. Thanks for the link. :)

Some not so premium...:drunk: I leave for overseas tomorrow and it's what I could find for cheap!

with all due respect to Nukebrewer and his pile of beer porn, I was at the Valley Forge Beer Festival and had (pardon my excessively drunken typing):

Blind Eye PA by Evil Genius Brewing
Hunchback Ale by Evil Genius Brewing
Bare Ass Blonde Ale by DuClaw Brewing
Serum xxIPA by DuClaw Brewing <= wholly **** this was good!
Shipwrecked IPS by Mission Brewing
Dark Seas RIS by Mission Brewing <= another great one
Imperial Red Ale by Lavery Brewing
Oak Aged Belfast Black by Lavery Brewing
Dunks Ferry Dunkelweizen -]
County Line IPA -] Biggest surprise of the festival. These guys have some incredible beer
Black Swan Black Saison by Twisted Pine

**** ... I'll have to repost the rest tomorrow when I can type. This beer fest was freakin' awesome though!

I'm on the last of a PM DIPA with Cascade, Chinook, Centennial, Crystal, then Cascade DH. So sad it is almost gone (except the emergency reserve, ace in the hole supply), a big hit with friends. More components on the way though and next weekend another batch will be a fermenter.

One upper! I'm still going to enjoy the **** out of my 2007 Samael tonight.

All penis measuring aside that sounds like you had a helluva time at that beer fest. I have yet to have any Blind Pig brews, but I have heard great things about them. I can get Mission here, but I have yet to get any. Based on your post I'm going to get some next time I am at the beer store. :mug:
