So, I'm trying to find a nice christmas/winter beer, and was wondering if anyone has ever made a beer that had some cider in it. I've never made cider before, but I was wondering if I were to make a 4.5 gallon batch of beer and added .5 gallons of no preservative apple cider from the store if it would end up tasting OK. I imagine I would use a pretty high mash temperature to make sure the body of the beer isn't completely ruined (~158), but I'm not sure other than that. If anyone else has any ideas, or suggestions on other holiday brews to try please let me know. Thanks!

P.S.
My main reason for not going with the standard spicy christmas beer is that they seem too similar to a pumpkin ale (basically the same spices, except you say it's for christmas rather than fall). Anyway, thanks again!
