I'm looking for a commercial mill but on the small side of the whole brewer thing.
so if buying for regular daily use possible couple hundred lbs of grain .
what would you get, they each have pros and cons,, I have no problem motorizing and making a hopper

what else is out there??

I've used the Barley Crusher and the Jack Schmidling Malt Mill before one of my brewing buddies and lhbs moved into the Monster Mills. We are using a MM3-1.0 at home and it works beautifully and my lhbs uses the MM3-2.0 which would work better if the drive motor had enough torque after being geared down for the adequate RPMs. The Monster Mills are great and I recommend them. The Barley Crusher worked good for quite a while but eventually wore out while the Schmidling Malt Mill is just not as solid of construction and came with the tiniest hopper known to man. The Schmidling will work for people doing 5 gallon batches while cranking by hand, but even then the price is kind of outrageous for what you get.

Moral of the story, I really dig the Monster Mills.

+1 Monster. Competitive price, stainless roller options, awesome hopper.

I mill totally indoors in my apartment. Nary a fleck of dust the way its set up. A tight hopper was a necessity for that.
