Right now Sippin on some Cognac and pondering what to do with all of these different types of malts that I purchased (Yes the sale at the store is still on in edmonton) I couldn't pass it up.
WIll buy some Dry malt extract but how much will I need for a 7 gallon batch?
Here is the list of my inventory as follows (All bags are 500 G each)
- 4 X Munich 100 Malt
- 4 X Vienna Malt Lovibond Color 8
- 2 X Dark Crystal Malt
- 2 X Honey Malt 20 - 25 Lovibond
Looking for Full Body, Rich Medium Dark Color, I like bitter beers but no TOO bitter, for example Youngers Tartan Special is very nice, Guiness Pub Draught is nice, Guiness extra stout, WAY to bitter, and Molson canadian in my opinion is piss water
Looking for an OG of about 1055 - 1080.
Bring on the ideas and suggestions. What else would you recommend?
Wiill be using nottingham brewers yeast. hopefully that will do the trick.unless you all can suggest a different yeast? I know I am prefer Ales over lager. But I do want this one to age for a bit and be really clean. thinking about a month ageing process in the carboy, then the 4 weeks in the bottles. or better yet my birthday beer. that is in September
this will be my first recipe beer. what kind of hops would you all recommend?
