Is this to tall of a collar? Will I have issues keeping the temp even?
I have been stuck for a week trying to decide what size fermenting container I should get and its driving me crazy. My options are to either build a 12 inch collar w .5 gallon headspace in my containers OR the 16 inch collar and upgrade to 1.2 gallon head space in my containers. Idealy I'd like to go with the 12 inch collar if I can, but am worried that .5 gallons headspace will have alot of blowoff from hefe, wheat, oatmeals (even w foam control)
So to get the extra 1.2 headspace containers I will have to build an 16 inch collar, which I dont want to go over 12 inches for a collar. However I don't want to be constantly dealing with losing beer in the blowoff because I only have .5 headspace.
What option would you do?
