I just got my pH meter today. It came with a tiny scrap of sponge in the cap, but it seems way too tiny to keep the probe moist. It doesn't look like regular kitchen sponge. Any recommendations on what I can use to replace it?

It's ok to not use the sponge and just fill the cap portion with storage solution, storing the meter upright.

The object is to keep the humidity up so the bulb doesn't dry out. I wouldn't worry about it. You can put enough storage solution in there to completely cover the sponge. Creep and evaporation will eventually remove liquid from the cap. The sponge will give you some extra time if you forget to replenish.
