I pitched the yeast in my dunkel about 2 days ago. I pitched WLP300 yeast after letting it sit in a starter for 48 hours, expecting some massive krausen. What I did get....was one of the smallest krausen rings I've ever seen. Is krausen size related to anything? I was expecting something larger, especially with this stronger (1.062 starting gravity) batch. I'm thinking I didn't leave the yeast in the starter enough, I have a feeling most of it died when it was shipped to me (the day it arrived the weather was pretty hot).

Nontheless, this leads me into my 2nd, and main question: Is it ok to remove the blowoff tube after the krausen falls?
