I'm a hardware designer. Where that hardware ends up is beyond my scope. This sounds more like a SW thingamabob that just happens to use one of our chips.

Chances are about 99% that the hardware used has some of my handiwork on it.

When they OEM them, don't they switch to using a Transcramadoober?
 
It looks pretty sweet, regardless. I've had a car computer in the back of my head for a couple of years that I could hook a gps unit to with some mapping software. I could also formulate homebrew in Promash while stuck in traffic.

These days, if it is silicon based, it can get porn...

It does look pretty sweet. I have a VW, but passed on the nav system because it was expensive at the time, and was buggy. If I replace it with another VW in a couple years I will definitely get the system.
 
The nav system in my 1995 VW Jetta consists of 6 large pieces of glass. The resolution is phenomenal, though.
 
Yeah. they are high on the gadget factor-that is why I couldn't justify it for a car that rarely was more than 100 miles from home. They are becoming more mainstream, though, and therefore the cost will be dropping, and soon they will be standard equipment, like A/C and CD players...
