Not starting a debate weather right or wrong. If we should stay or come home, they announced we have been in afghanistan for nine years now on the news this morning. My question is, have we been in war or conflict longer?

All the "news" outlets have been saying 9 years lately for some reason....
maybe because we were already doing covert ops in 2000?
