Good question. I dropped my droid and every picture I take has that now. I cleaned the lens (the plastic cover broke off) and it is still there.

you added aceto on purpose? are you making vinegar?

Sure am. I have a good friend who's starting a brewery, so I took a gallon of a test batch to make vinegar with. Might be a nice addition to their kitchen. Just having some fun, really.

100% sorghum malt sour. Soured with a lacto starter from probiotic pills, then fermented with a blend of belle saison, brett trois/brux. Just bottled it yesterday and primed with apricot nectar.

1.5 gallons of saison fermented entirely from the yeast sediment in Hill Farmstead Dorothy. A touch of acetic from being in The bucket too long, but otherwise very solid. It's sister batches in the experiment (Prairie Standard, Funkwerks Saison) were bottled yesterday.

Now I just need to get ahold of more HF to do some comparison batches....

in my perverted/weird mind, this looks like a cross between a carboy and a woman with a really, really low cut shirt... sweet cleavage!!!

as to whether that "looks right", hard to tell from the pic. looks like that's still krausen from primary. how old is this batch?

post more pictures. lots of them, from different angles... maybe in a different shirt, or a bikini top...

i'll go back to my dark corner now.

lol, love the white scarf. THIS is what you call pellicle porn :ban:

that last pic is probably the best one for seeing the pellicle... if that is indeed what is. the fuzzy white stuff and the slimy appearance is not typical of pellicle i've seen.

anyone else have a concern about this bad girl?

I was thinking it looked kinda hairy. More mold-like than pellicle. Though I am no expert.
nor am i, hence my call for others' advice, but mold was my concern too.

Is this a pellicle forming? Went to bottle today and thought... Betta not
if it is a pellicle, it's too early to tell. that could well be nothin' but yeast. sounds like you decided to wait a while longer to confirm? if so, by opening it up like that you filled the headspace with oxygen - if there are pellicle-forming bugs in there they are likely to kick into high gear very soon. so in a week or two you should have a very definite answer!

Thanks for the quick response, I will follow up in a couple of weeks

yeah.... I am not sure what to think. In person its looks more powdery than fuzzy... but its a little too much like the stuff in the fridge of my first apartment. I guess I will give it another month or two and see what happens...

Pellicle at 12 months in primary for my beer Garth Vader. White Labs WLP677 Lactobacillus Delbrueckii, WLP566 Saison 2, White Labs Brett Claussenii, Yeast Bay Brussels Brettanomyces Blend. Bottled at 16 months in, about 6 weeks ago and it's lovely. Crazy Brett. Not sour but almost seems it from the crazy aged Brett.
