Recipe
8 lbs 2 row
1/2 lb 10 crystal
1 lb corn flakes
1 oz kent golding bittering
1/2 oz kent flavoring
1/2 oz kent aroma
60 minute boil
Used 9 qts water 145 f for 30 minutes
added 5 qts boling water, held at 155 degree for 60 min
raised to 167 degrees, sparged w/ 4 gallons of 170 deg water
ended with 4 1/2 gallons with sg 1.070 (gallon short)
diluted to 5 1/2 gallons (sg (1.050) and added yeast)
Why the shortage of 1 gallon Should I have dilued to 5 1/2 gallon

Looks like a classic bitter, except for the corn flakes! Do you mean flaked corn? What yeast did you use?

Looks good, except for the corn flakes! :D

I would go a bit higher on the sparge water....Maybe 175??? It might just be me but... the temp always seems to drop when it hits the grains

I'd also include 1/2 lb of rice hulls. When using corn flakes there's a higher potential of a stuck sparge.

You might want to re-think this recipe and brew a beer that has a simpler grain bill that calls for a single infusion mash at 154.

Cheers!
