You may remember, I scoped out some of this stuff in Ribeauville (Alsace):
While I was there, I had tried a small bottle of something else called "Coeur de Biere", but it was like schnapps and tasted nothing like beer...so naturally I was skeptical of how hoppy this eau-de-vie would actually taste. I had to wait till we got back to the states to try it---and did so yesterday. Daaaamn. Just awesome. Not a hop bomb, not bitter...more like a brandy flavored with mild noble hops. Awesomely spicy, woody, like smelling a bag of whole hop leaves. I could drink this stuff all night long if it weren't 90 proof.
If anyone ever comes across this stuff---not sure if they sell it here or not---do yourself a favor and get a bottle or two. It's hop brandy...subtle, restrained, balanced, perfect.
