Is there an advantage to boiling your whole batch? I am capable of doing so. I have a propane burner and a pot converted from an old keg. I know that larger batches equal longer boil times. Any imput???

It is said to have a positive effect on the quality of your beer, I do not have the capability for full boils so I cannot comment on this personally. You will definitely get better hop utilization from a full volume boil. I say go ahead and do it but you would also need a wort chiller to cool the larger volume of wort effectively. Takes a long time with an ice bath for 5 gal.

Thank you for the info. I'm obviously new to this stuff, and this forum. But , I do find it greatly helpful. Some books are cut & dried, with no explanation. I find it better to speak to people who are making mistakes with you :D
