I just put together an extract APA recipe with a smack pack of Wyeast 1056 I should use up this weekend. I kind of wanted to do a stout next but I don't have time for anything other than another extract so I'd like to put it on the APA's yeast cake a week later. My MLT is too big for a partial mash so I can only do steeping grains for this one.

Anyone have any good suggestions for me? I have to put my order in by tomorrow or I would do my own leg work instead of asking. I spent a couple of hours tonight looking and wound up wasting too much time on the APA recipe to finish up. There's just not enough hours in the day anymore. :(

I appreciate any tips.

Try something like this.

Beer: Extract Stout
Style: Irish Dry Stout
Type: Extract w/grain
Size: 5.5 gallons
Color: 90 HCU (~33 SRM)
Bitterness: 40 IBU
OG: 1.052 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 5.5% v/v (4.3% w/w)

6 lb. Light dry malt extract

Steeping grains:
.5 lb. American crystal 60L
.5 lb. American chocolate
.5 lb. Roasted barley

Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.044 6.5 gallons

Hops: 1 oz. Nugget (12% AA, 60 min.)

I have used 1056 for dry stouts - works very well in that style.
