I haven't drank a lot of exotic beers. I like Heineken, Corona and Molson Old Style Pilsner lagers. However, when I look these up on www.ratebeer.com/, none of them get a good rating.

I have drank pilsner Urquell (http://www.pilsnerurquell.com/) and I find it too hoppy for my liking. My favorite beer of the 3 above is the Heineken.

So if I look on ratebeer lager list, the Sierra Nevada Pilsner is the only name I recognize.

And it has good comments too.

Does anyone have a clone recipe for this beer, or another lager similar to it ?

How much better are these lagers than Heineken ?

Thanks.

My 2 cents is that you should brew what you like....5+ gallons of "hmmm..I might like this style, I might not" is a bit too much of a dice roll for me. I don't know if you have a heineken clone down but the last BYO clone beers issue has a recipe.

I like to find commercial examples of new (to me) styles or brands and develop my palate/knowledge before hitting the kettle.

I can't comment on if you have good taste or not....that's not my call. :)

I totally agree with "trying commercial before brewing". Good point. For the record, all my first batches of anything are 3 gallons. Still, the point is well taken.

Which BYO is it that has the Heineken recipe ? I really like that beer, regardless of what anyone says.

Hey brewman are you looking for a Sierra nevada pale ale clone? BC that book that the cran ale recipe came from has a recipe for it.....let me know if you want it

take it easy!

Hi Green. Not the Pale Ale. The Pilsner. BTW: My local library had that book and another. I pick them up tomorrow.

Oh cool...wasn't sure

yeah it's a pretty cool book...go through it and copy as may recipes as you can man! Thats what I try and do with my txt books at the begining of semesters!

you said you liked molson's right? there's a canadian-style lager in the lager chapter. There's also like 4 or 5 pilsner recipes and a heineken clone in that chapter

good luck!

(hey don't worry about the "bad taste in beer" thing. Almost all my fav's get low ratings)
