Added too much Irish moss? Plus a bonus question :)

I made a 5 gallon batch yesterday that turned out very murky, I suspect because we were too aggressive in straining out of our infusion mash.

So rather than using the bottle-recommended 1 teaspoon of Irish moss, I added 1.5 teaspoons. ... not that it seemed to have much of an affect anyway.

Will this cause an odd flavor, do you think? Hard to imagine half a teaspoon of anything upsetting 5 gallons, but who knows.

Also, I hydrometered the dregs I squeezed out of the hops - so not exactly a representative sample. It rang up 1.090. Wow! Any thoughts on that?
