California Lager yeast says its optimum temp is between 58 and 68 degrees. I know this yeast can ferment at slightly higher temps and achieve lager characteristics, but can it work just as well at lower temps. I am planning on using this yeast at at primary fermentation temp of 52. Is that too cold for this yeast or will it perform the same as other lager yeasts that have lower optimum temps?

I just finished one at 53 degrees (2112). Haven't tasted it yet, but it seemed to ferment good, but it did take a 3 weeks.
