I am doing a Hoegaarden Clone I am a partial masher, with full volume boil. how late can I add the DME to keep coloring down?

Brewing in the morning any input is appreciated

The best way is not to boil DME or liquid extract at all, just add at the end of boil time, and let steep for a few minutes. Hops and mash from grain does need to be boiled, but during the manufacturing process to concentrate extract and DME they have already literally had the hell boiled out them. Heres a quote from an article in BYO mag website. "You will note that I do not call for boiling the malt extracts. One of the more recent trends in extract brewing is to not boil malt extracts that were boiled prior to being concentrated."

Also try to make sure that you dont add the extract with the pot on the burner. I've heard this can lead to some caramel browning.
