A couple firsts for me.

#1 First Hefe
#2 First time using a Starter

I finished up last night around 11pm and woke up at 6 to notice that it was already bubbling. :ban: I'll always be making a starter from now on!

A few questions. I've read the Hefe's can have a quick and violent fermentation. Since it has started pretty fast, should I be keeping a closer eye on it so I can install a blow-off tube if necessary? Or should I just put a blow-off tube on right now anyways?

Starters make life infinitely easier.

What type of fermentor are you using? Plastic buckets tend to have more headspace and blow off less (although it's still possible).

I'm using glass carboys.

Thanks for the quick responses. I'll put on the blow-off tube immediatly.
