First post here. Looking forward to getting some good advice as there always seems to be something that comes up.

On to my question.

Recipe:

8lb Pale American Malt
1 lb Torrified Wheat
1 lb Flaked Oats
.5 lb Flaked Rice
.5 lb Flaked Maize
1.5 oz Kent Golding Hops
White Labs Ale Yeast

2.5 Gal Mash in: 140F 15-20 mins
40 minutes at 155
Mash out 170
Sparge 3 gallons @ 170
Boil 1 oz hops 1 Hour
Cool
.5 oz hops 15 minutes

Cool and Pitch
Primary: 3 days
Secondary: 14-21 Days

Finished my mash, boil and chill yesterday; after I racked into my primary I noticed my yield wasn't what I wanted - about 3.5 gal. I consistently get OG's around 1.06 - which I got this time again- and my last beer came out around 8pct.

Not wanting as strong of a final product, I added about 1 Gal of cool water before pitching my yeast.

Wondering if that will cause problems or adverse flavors/results.

Thanks in advance.

You should be fine, as long as the water was clean. It doesn't look like you used a lot of water, which would explain the low volume and high OG. What recipe is that?

I was expecting a low volume but not that low. Glad to hear, I wasn't expecting any problems, but I wanted some other opinions.

Its my own recipe.
