Clip on thermometer that works

I have been searching and reading all about thermometers. Consensus is thermopen or k probe.

But I just want a low cost thermometer that I can clip on my boil kettle and always see a reading since I will be doing biab and ice bath cooling. Problem is everyone says dials suck.

Any suggestions on a low cost decent therm that will clip to my kettle?
