:mug: I'm trying to maximize my primary fermenter. It's actually an tun and even with 8 gals. I still about 2" of headspace. I definitely use a blowoff tube every batch. I guess I'll keep experimenting til I make a mess! Keep SWMBO happy! I pretty much have tubs and buckets to contain mess as long as it does not EXPLODE!:tank: :mug:
 
Get a bigger fermenter. It's not good to loose beer. it is too expensive. You can get a 55 gallon food grade container and have lots of room. Sanke kegs work too.
