Irish Stout Questions

So-
we brewed an Irish Stout w:
Cascade Bittering hops 1 oz w/ AA of 5% @60min
Cascade Aroma hops .5 oz w/ AA of 5% @5min
Our IBU calculation turned out as 15.49. The recipe is calling for 35-38 IBUs. We followed the directions exactly. Did we do something wrong? We are 1st timers on this and were following all the directions.

there is more than one way to calculate IBUs. if you followed the directions to the letter your going to be ok.

where did the kit come from? how many gallons are you brewing? do you have your recipe? its hard to say with out some more info. but if your brewing 5 gallons thats probably not enough. give a little more info and im sure one of the guys on here will be able to help out

also how does it taste? if its good then don't worry about it. if it needs more hops you can always dry hop.

you needed more hops bc 5%aa is very low.
