I'm pretty sure the whole hops I used to dryhop the other
day were poorly stored. I couldn't smell anything then, but
now that I'm smelling my airlock, it smells 75% like hops,
and 25% like... musty cheese. Not overwhelming, but
enough to notice.

Any remedies?

I was thinking about getting another ounce of pellets and
dry hopping again to attempt to mask it. I won't ever be
going back to the LHBS I bought them from.

Although I'm new to the hobby, non refrigerated hops
should have totally tipped me off. Why would they do that?

Lesson learned.

I think it would be worth trying another round of dry hopping. If it salvages the batch great, if not, not much of an extra cost.

Not refrigerating hops & yeast is a mistake for any LHBS. Many hops are only good for 5-6 months at room temperature.

Yeah I kicked myself after putting them in the carboy.

I'll pick up another OZ of Amarillo tonight.

Thanks!
