My husband and I are fairly new to the Denver area and are trying to find a not-so serious homebrew club to meet some new people. After doing a search its quite difficult to narrow down which clubs are still in existence. Obviously members are more focused on beer then having an up to date website.

I've been an extract brewer for about 3 years now. I brew to have a variety of good tasting beers on tap and enjoy the process. Although I've done a lot of research into the basics and improved process, I'm not really too interested in mastering all the nitty-gritty details to make a perfect product. Start getting into water chemistry or something similar and that's a little too in depth for me. Keeping this in mind, I'm looking to find a club that is more based on social and brewing aspect rather then focused on competitions. Also, looking for a club that meets somewhere in the city, as we live downtown and don't like to drive if I don't have to.

Calling for any suggestions or advice on which clubs I should look into and/or try out. Also, name any that maybe were short lived and now defunct.

Hi,
I started the DenverHBC about a year ago and I think it might be what you are looking for. I consider it a social club that visits breweries and drinks homebrew. We meet the second Wednesday of every month.

I started it up in response to a bit of disillusionment with the competition based mindset of other clubs. We are trying to be very open to a varied set of individuals and experience levels. That being said, some of our members are extraordinarily technical. Some of our topics get a bit esoteric but overall we hang out and talk about homebrew and have a few laughs.

You should come down and check us out. In April, we will be visiting Wynkoop Brewing in downtown Denver. 7pm, 4/11/2012.

It is free of charge since we use free sources to disseminate information and rely on our members to bring beer and new people.

There are a few ways to keep an eye on what we are doing:
