1st all grain yesterday. Use glass carboy as primary with blow off tube. I have an 1-2 inches of sediment on bottom. Is there a way to avoid this? Should you let it settle and transfer into another carboy before fermentation? What if yoou leave it alone?

It won't hurt anything. Leave it be and if you use a secondary just rack off the trub. If you really want to avoid getting that layer, you need to whirlpool and let your kettle set for about 30 min then siphon off the kettle. Really though, just don't worry bout it.

Just leave it this time. You will get alot more trub with all grain. My recipes result in an extra gallon of wort at the end of the boil. I whirlpool and let it stand for at least 30 minutes before transferring to my primary. This results in crystal clear wort.
