I've brewed a few batches of cider from grocery store juice and would like to do some batches from fresh pressed cider this fall.

We have an orchard we usually visit to buy apples for eating/pie, etc. and I am wondering which apples that they offer should I be considering for cider and malted cider/graff purposes?

The best thing to do is get a mixture of apples juices, They offer a mixed juice, in the store that is usally very good. Mnbrewers.com The Beer brewing club mpls gets a discount , and usually orders around Nov. 1.

Please consider joining the club, we all do ciders in the fall.

The best eating apple is the Zeststar of the early apples.

Well, I just heard from Steve at Minnesota Harvest and he said they're not doing *any* cider this year.

I'm totally up for joining the group. Don't know about making it to meetings as my schedule's kinda cramped, but we'll see.
