Filling 1L bottles

I know when filling 12oz bottles, you fill it to the top and when you take out the wand the beer level drops to where you want it. I'm planning on getting some 1L flip top bottles to give away to friends/make bottling easier, so will doing the same thing work, or will it not leave enough room?
 
I fill all the bottles that I use the way that you described. I have never had a bottle bomb due to this. Ive used bottles as small as 6 oz, and as large as 1.5 L.
 
I use the 1L flip tops and haven't had a problem yet, it will still leave about an inch at the top of the bottle just like with the 12oz bottles.

Ok, thanks. I just wanted to be sure I wouldn't be attempting to give me father in law a poor representation of my brewing abilities :)
