Hey All,

I am planning on building a proper brew stand. I have been planning on a single tier Brutus style rig, less all the fancy automation. At this point, I have a single march pump and had planned to batch sparge until I get a second pump.

Last night I was admiring the brew stand build by HBTer' Lehr that is a 2 tier brew-magic style 1 pump system (gravity to the BK).

With the 2 tier design and one pump, fly sparging is now an option.

What other pro's/con's are there with either the the designs I am considering.

I'd appreciate your comments, especially if you've had experience brewing on either of the designs described.

Cheers!

I just built a single tier, but was considering a two tier.

For me, raising the HLT makes more sense. You can fly sparge that way, too.

single pump for MT to BK. Gravity sparges for you

Ive done about 5 or 6 batches on this one and it works great

THe MT and Boil kettle are low enough to visually monitor, while the HLT sits up high. I use a RV hose/Carbon filter to fill the HLT so no lifting. You can see the propane valves under the HLT to maintain flame height on all three burners.
